Lessons
ScoreS2Duo’s approach to music lessons is a combination of group and individual lessons. The rationale is to allow students to experience the joy and fun of learning an instrument, be part of a structured ensemble performing regularly and participating in Eisteddfods, competitions etc.
Individual lessons are 30, 45 or 60 minute durations on a weekly basis. These lessons primarily focus on technique, repertoire, musicianship and creative skills. Students enter external examinations, Eisteddfods and competitions on a regular basis.
Group lessons are 45 minutes in duration, and students are assigned to groups of 3 to 4, based on age, ability level and scheduled availability.
Practice
Regular home practice is essential for success. Students should aim practice for at least 5 days a week. Short, daily practice sessions are more effective than one or two long sessions per week. The most important time for students to practice is right after their weekly lesson, to solidify what they have just learned.
Parental involvement in home practice is crucial for student success. Establish and stick to a practice routine, and please ensure that practice time is without distractions.
Attendance
Students are expected to attend scheduled weekly tuition for the semester. When you register for lessons, your timeslot is reserved for you for the year. Please keep in mind that the studio operates at full capacity and rescheduling missed lessons cannot be guaranteed.
Students are responsible to check for possible rescheduling availability on the website or the weekly program update received via WhatsApp. Any lessons missed by Ms van Rensburg due to illness or emergency will be rescheduled as soon as possible. Lesson times cannot be extended for students who arrive late.
